Rocky Mount – Logan Matthew Barnes, born in Rocky Mount on September 15, 1995, passed away at home following a 6.5 year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma on Saturday, August 3, 2024. He was 28 years old. Logan was a friend to all. He had a quiet demeanor, a quick and dry wit, was kind, thoughtful, passionate and determined. He loved his family and friends. Logan and his legacy will live forever in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be the brightest star in the sky. With warm hugs,
There are no right words were here to support you in every way that a Disney movie cannot. These flowers made us think of Logan and his love for UNC
With thoughts of peace and courage for you,
I had the opportunity to work with Logan on a few classroom projects and IAA NC State and his thoughts, ideas and contributions always made a mark. The best part interacting with him though was his kindness and the patience with which he listened to everyone, always curious and wanting to learn more. My deepest condolences to his family and prayers for strength to all the near and dear ones for recovering from such a huge loss. The analytics community lost a brilliant mind in the making ❤️
Logan and I were classmates at NC State for the Masters in Analytics program, and at one point during the year were on the same team. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Logan, from his easygoing and friendly personality to his incredible work ethic to his desire to help out and provide support. Logan not only seemed like a great teammate, but from how he interacted with our classmates, both in-person and via group chats, he seemed like a warm personality that was beloved by everyone who had the pleasure of working with and talking to him. It is sad to see the loss of someone who was clearly a great mind, a great teammate, and a great friend. No words can truly help ease the pain of something as awful as this, but I hope these help a little. My deepest condolences.
16 years ago the Strikers family and brotherhood was created. You were the backbone of our defense and will forever be in our hearts. We love you #5!
Logan was one of the best and brightest classmates in our year at NC State. I’ll remember him for his pride in all Tar Heel sports and his quiet & charming personality. He was always a hard worker, super teammate, and great friend.
Logan’s kindness, commitment, and professionalism are inspiring. He will be missed by his NC State Institute for Advanced Analytics family.
Tiffany, Matt and Alison. Our hearts are with you with love, hugs and prayers for comfort. Logan was a hero and a blessing. He is in our hearts
I had the privilege of rooming with Logan during our time in graduate school at North Carolina State University. Logan was the first person I met from our program; I had moved from New York and knew no one in the area, but Logan welcomed me warmly and made me feel comfortable in my new home right away. We quickly bonded over our shared love of Marvel movies & tv shows (though Logan knew considerably more of the lore). Throughout the first few months of living together, Logan always provided a helping hand while we did our schoolwork and a friendly chat when we needed a break. He knew I did not have a car and generously offered to drive us to and from class every day. Beyond his intellect and wit, Logan was a source of calmness and stability in our apartment. I remember one time we came home and I found a cockroach in my bathroom. I screamed but Logan just walked in with a shoe and told me he’d handle it. When Logan began his chemo during our spring semester, he never complained to me once about this new stress or our busy course-load (which he still managed to complete, even from Philadelphia for some time). Logan brought new meaning to the word strength. Though we only lived together for one year, he was a pivotal part of why I considered Raleigh to be my home during that time.
It is with profound sorry we give our heart felt condolences with Logans passing. We pray for healing in the Lord.
Logan helped me so much in so many ways. I wish you the all love and support possible in this time. Love,
Logan,
I’m honored to have gotten to know you! I’ll miss your wit and your kind presence. See you again someday!
