Simone Benoit Cook

ROCKY MOUNT – Simone Rose Benoit Cook, age 79, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Born in Chittenden County, VT on September 18, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred C. Benoit and Dorothy Katheryn Weller Benoit. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Armeline Benoit Emmons and Yvonne Benoit Ryan. Simone was a graduate of Fayetteville Manlius High School. Affectionately known as MeMa by her grandchildren, she was always there to guide the family through the ups and downs of life with love and encouragement. Simone had many interests such as horticulture, calligraphy and gardening but was most passionate about taking care of and supporting her family. Her quick wit and sense of humor were always a part of family gatherings and laughs were sure to be shared. Her spirit and spark for life will be missed by all who knew her. Simone is survived by her husband of 61 years, Melvin “Mel” Joseph Cook; her sons, Jeff Cook and wife Terri, and Dale Cook; her grandchildren; Jackson Cook, Cole Cook, Abbygail Cook, Sean Cook, and Jarrett Moss; her brother, Patrick Benoit and wife, Brenda; and her sisters, Emily Benoit Rounds and Paulette Benoit Weber and husband, Rick. A Special Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Simone alway’s made our world much happier when she was around with her colorful attitude and her playful sense of humor she made us laugh, she was talented in many ways,the way she wrote her poems in calligraphy and how she played the piano and organ, she always looked for best in everyone, for those who knew her she will surely be missed but always in our heart’s love always brother and family
