RROCKY MOUNT – Joan Cockrell Stanley, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Born in Nash County, NC on February 6, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Sam Archie Cockrell and Winifred Fleck Cockell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Knox Stanley.
Joan is survived by her sons, Sam Stanley and wife, Michelle, and Brian Stanley; her granddaughter, Katlyn Reeves and husband, Seth; and her brother, Bradley Cockrell.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Joan was one of a group of women that we went to Nags Head with every year in the fall. We always had the best time, and I miss those trips.. and Joan. She will be missed. Prayers for her family..
