Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Newcomb

Rocky Mount - Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Newcomb, age 77, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Born in Albany County, NY on January 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Fuller and Vera Arlina Waterman Fuller. A woman of strong faith, Dottie was a member of First Baptist Church. She had a love of caring for children of many friends and church family over the years. Dottie or Grandma, was not only a mother to her six children but a mother to many and a friend to all who knew her. Dottie touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered with love and kindness. Dottie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Oliver “Bud” Newcomb; daughter, Judith Newcomb McDonald and husband, Tim, of Danville, VA; her sons, Kenneth Newcomb and wife, Joyce, of Middletown, DE; Chuck Newcomb and wife, Lisa, of Loudenville, NY; James Newcomb and wife, Cheryl, of Rotterdam, NY; Dan Newcomb and wife, Beth, of Rocky Mount; and Dave Newcomb and wife Lisa, of Downingtown, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael, Scott, Jesse, Alex, Caroline, Jacob, Benjamin, William, Jack, Ashlyn, Justin, and Camryn Newcomb; and Megan and Lauren McDonald; and one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Newcomb. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 200 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Dotties memory to Duke Cancer Institute, 710 West Main Street, Suite 200, Durham, NC 27701.   1. We have sweet memories of Dottie when we attended Trinity Baptist Church in Schenectady, New York. She had a servant’s heart and when you chatted with her, she had a knack of making you feel extra special. There are many wonderful things we admire about her, the number was her love for Bud, her children and grandchildren. The beauty of Jesus radiated from her all the time.
