ROCKY MOUNT - Michael Leonard Joyner, age 63, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018. Born in Warren County, NC on June 11, 1955, he was the son of the late Robert Leonard Joyner and Mamie Louise Bradley. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Marie Joyner.
Michael proudly attended Bob Jones University. He was a PCA Elder and a Stephen Minister. He was a Disaster Relief Chaplain for the Southern Baptist Convention. Michael summed his life's work up by calling himself a "churchman." A loving husband, uncle, brother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Michael leaves behind to cherish his memory of 40 years his wife, Joan Narron Joyner of Rocky Mount; brother, Timothy Neal Joyner and his wife, Jeannette of Uganda, Africa; He will be greatly missed by his niece and nephews who he has raised after his sister's tragic death in 1988, Michelle Holloman Briley and her husband, Christopher of Rocky Mount, James Leonard Holloman, Timothy Daniel Holloman both of Rocky Mount, great-nephews, Christopher Dylan Briley and Justin Michael Briley.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Christ Covenant Church, 3124 Belmont Lake Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor Dennis Darville officiating. A visitation with the family will be immediately following the service until 5:30 PM at Christ Covenant Church.
A Private Family Burial will take place at Pineview Cemetery with his brother, Missionary Timothy Neal Joyner officiating.

Joan, Tim & Jeanette, So sorry for your time of bereavement. So thankful he knew where he was going when his time came. Exactly when he took his last breath here, he was looking into the Face of his Savior. Praying for you all.
Mike and his brother, Tim, and sister, Cindy, are first cousins. I have fond memories of playing together when were small kids. So long ago, but the memories stay fresh. i will be missing Mike and thinking of him.
Mike was one of the smartest people I have ever known. He maintained a positive outlook despite all the physical problems he had. He loved his Savior. I will miss his quick wit and his spirit.
