Mildred Christenberry Davis

WAKE FOREST - Mildred Christenberry Davis, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Born in Halifax County, NC on May 23, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Quince Albert Christenberry and Eva Barfield Christenberry. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Lucious Christenberry, Elvin Christenberry, Blandford Christenberry, Hilda Christenberry, and Dennis Christenberry. Mildred was a devoted cat lover. She would never turn away a stray cat and she never lived without a cat in her home. Mildred was very talented and loved to bake and decorate wedding and birthday cakes. She loved having a good time with friends and family, especially when it came to dancing, one of her favorites being the shag. Mildred was very patriotic and respected our American Flag. She loved Christmas and would celebrate it year round if she could. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mildred will be dearly missed and will never be forgotten. Mildred leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Ray Davis and wife, Dori, of Rocky Mount; and daughters, Crystal Davis Niswonger and husband, Joseph, of Wake Forest, Eve Davis of Raleigh; and Lori Davis Whitehead and husband, Melvin, of Raleigh. She is also survived by grandchildren, Brittany Robidoux, Alana Eways, Noah Whitehead, Michael Niswonger, and Braylen Davis; great-grandchildren, Evan Robidoux and Addison Robidoux; sister, Reba Harmon of Midlothian, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Mildred's Life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Transitions Hospice Care for their dedicated care for Mildred. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Able Cat Rescue, P. O.   5. So sorry for the loss of Ms.Mildred. I always remembered her smiling when we were neighbors in Enfield and when I came years later to visit!!!! She was a precious lady!! Praying for the family!!!
