Malcolm “Mike” Bunn Ayers

ROCKY MOUNT - Malcolm "Mike" Bunn Ayers, age 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on August 6, 1945, he was the son of the late James Haskey Ayers and Daisey Ruth Newell Ayers. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ron Ayers; sisters, Lettie Ruth Sneed, and Marie Evans. Mike was a mechanic at Don Bulluck Chevrolet, Eagle Transport and Ryder Truck Company for many years. He was a member of West Edgecombe Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was a member of the Young at Heart (YAH). He was also a member of the West Edgecombe Ruritan Club. Mike was disabled for 30 years and he fought a good fight. He liked sitting in his recliner and watching western movies on tv. Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 53 years, Ann Shelton Land Ayers; and son, Michael Scott Ayers. He is also survived by brothers, Jim Ayers and wife, Diane, and Fred Ayers and wife, Susan; and sister, Connie Hicks and husband, Robert. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Jeff Chappell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Marc Sliver and Dr. Josh Dowd of Wake Med., Dr. Richard Michal, nurse Frankie, staff at Rocky Mount Family Medical and Nash Hospice for their care and support of Mike and our family.   1. Were truly sadden to learn of Mike passing. We a Carmen’s Mobile Repair would like to extend our sympathy to his wife, son and brother Fred. He will be missed by all.
