Janoda “Cris” Sykes Crisp

ROCKY MOUNT - Janoda "Cris" Sykes Crisp, age 93, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on March 5, 1924, he was the son of the late Jessie David Crisp and Bettie Kennedy Crisp. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Stephens Crisp; brothers, Joseph, France, Allen, and Roland Crisp; and sisters, Elizabeth and Bessie Crisp. Cris leaves behind to cherish his memory, children, Deborah Crisp Hawkins and husband, Stephen, of Rocky Mount, Danny Sykes Crisp of Sharpsburg, Teressa Lynn Crisp of Battleboro, and Beverly Crisp Pierce and husband, Phil, of Pinetops. He is also survived by grandchildren, Stanley Acrey, Jr., Elizabeth Crisp, Tyler Pierce, Daniel Crisp, and Willie Jacobs, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Jesse Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Mill Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
