David Charles Hahula

February 27, 1956 ~ August 16, 2017

David Charles Hahula, age 61, answered the call from Jesus to "come home" on August 15, 2017. David was the son of the late Charles and Victoria Hahula. David grew up and lived in Wilkes-Barre, PA until he graduated high school. Following graduation, he then moved to Myrtle Beach, SC until accepting a position at North Green County Club as an assistant golf professional. Soon after marrying his wife, Allison, David began working in real estate while furthering his education at Nash Community College. After receiving his Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Computer Programming, David was privileged to begin his career in his chosen field until the early 2000's when for health reasons he retired. Prior to retirement, he found a passion for photography, specifically sports photography. David spent the remainder of his time, right up to his Lord and Savior calling him home, capturing brief moments in time during many football, basketball, and baseball games. His was most fond of viewing his son, Nicholas, the Rocky Mount Gryphons, NCCU Eagles, Chowan Hawks, Rocky Mount Academy Eagles, and the American Legion Baseball through the lens of his camera. Gearing up prior this coming football season, David had just replaced his old camera for a new Cannon 50D in anticipation for photographing his son beginning his coaching career with the Rocky Mount Gryphons as an assistant football. David couldn't be prouder of his son's accomplishments. David is survived by his son, Nicholas Hahula of Rocky Mount; his sparring partner of 31 years, Allison Nichols Salter Hahula of Rocky Mount; a step-son, Todd Salter; and 2 step-grandchildren, Scarlett and Langley Salter. Also surviving is his sister, Charlene Chervinitski and her husband, George, of Plymouth, PA; his nephew George Chervy and host of cousins. A Celebration of David's Life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM inside the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Following the services, friends are welcome to remain and visit with the family inside the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. David was an avid reader and being such, in lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Mount Braswell Memorial Library, 727 N Grace St, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, or to the Cooley Library, 114 W Church St, Nashville, NC 27856. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Guestbook

  1. Alison and Nick, We are so sorry to hear about your loss! David was a good friend and was always supporting so many sporting events in our area. He will be missed by many friends, as well as, your family. May the Lord hold you close and your sweet memories comfort you in the coming days. We hold you in our prayers during this difficult time. Love, Winnie and Phillip Johnson

  2. Alison and Family, I’m so very sorry to hear of David’s Passing. I came to know him, during his visits to his regular dentist many years ago. David would always bring a book with him to read in the chair. He was always so very kind, quiet and polite. I’m sure he will truly be missed by so many. You’re family will be in my daily prayers throughout the coming days. Rest In Peace David. Tammy Armstrong Rocky Mount Memorial Park

  3. Allison and Family, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of David. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time and will continue to lift you up in prayers in the days ahead.

  4. For many years, I enjoyed the coverage of sports at RM High School provided by the beautiful pictures taken by David Hahula. He was a gifted photographer and was generous with his sharing of the photos of all sports teams in Rocky Mount. Irvin Nichols

  5. What a nice guy. I always saw a very quite, nice David. True, David was so loving and proud of Nicholas. Nicholas was his eyeball both literally and through the camera lens. I’m very sorry for your lost. Kisses and hugs to both you Nicholas and Allison

  6. August 18, 2017 Heaven has gained another shining star to admire. Our fondest memory was sitting with our late aunt Vicky, who kept us updated on the entire family. Another fond memory was his love of golf that extended throughout his life. Condolences to his family and please know you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Peace and love from cousins Karen and Diane. Karen Stavish, Plains, Pennsylvania

  7. Uncle David I know that you have left this world but the memories I have of you will live with me forever. One memory specially is when you taught me how to putt. Believe it or not I still remember when you took me to play mini golf and taught me how to stand to make the shot. Thank you for helping me with that technique. I would hope that when our Matty grows up in the next few years of whom I know you have never got to meet that I could share that technique of putt with him. Until we meet someday again rip uncle Dave. Love your nephew George

  8. Allison, Patsy and I are so sorry to hear about David. We hope you and your family are doing ok. We hope to see you in person soon. Tony & Patsy Bunch
