Chadwick “Chikenbean” Glenn Seymour

July 12, 1970 ~ August 11, 2017

ROCKY MOUNT - Chadwick "Chikenbean" Glenn Seymour, age 47, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 11, 2017, at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Born in Wake County, NC on July 12, 1970, he was the son of Glenn Douglas Seymour and Gayle Sims Henry. It turns out Chad had a weak heart, unbeknownst to anyone. He passed away of heart failure. After Chad graduated from Rocky Mount High School in 1988, he went to NC State for two years and transferred to UNC-Wilmington earning a BS in Marine Biology. He also went to graduate school for two years at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi where he studied Mariculture. He was the president of Henry Dock Works, Inc. Chad loved reading, gardening, and filled his days spending time with his family and making memories he dearly cherished. His life was short and his last 15 years were sometimes hard, but he always gave more than he asked in return. Chad was a loving son, husband, father, and friend and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Many of you knew and loved Chad. The family has decided on a service to celebrate Chad's life. We plan to have a service, during which those who care to say a few words about their memories of Chad can do so. The family wants the service to be uplifting. Pastor Robert J. Sliver, Jr., who has worked with Chad's company since it was formed in 1997, and is vice-president, is going to help lead the service. It is important to us that anyone who comes feels comfortable coming dressed as they wish. Chad was not formal and dressed casually and this is what we feel he would want. Chad leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 16 years, DeeAnn Ezzell Seymour; daughters, Sydney Lynn Seymour (15) and Abby Grace Seymour (12). He is also survived by his mother, Gayle Sims Henry and husband, Daddy Marshall, of Rocky Mount; father, Glenn Douglas Seymour and wife, Phyllis, of Greensboro; sisters, Mary Chapman Knight and husband, Gary, and family, of Rocky Mount; Tyler Seymour Torok and husband, Jim, and family, of Wilmington; and Blair Seymour Williams and husband, Pat, and family, of Raleigh. A Celebration of Chad's Life will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Christian Academy, P. O. Box 8761, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, where is daughters attend school. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. 10. All the things a good man would want to be, a dad, a friend, a listener, a brother, an advice giver to name a few, all wrapped up in a boss.To Chad in your own voice, You’re The Man!!! I will bleed Orange until we meet on the other side.

  11. I will miss our college sports chats, we both knew not to bother the other when our team was having a bad day. You dont find many friends who respect your misery; most would jump at the chance to revel in it, but not Chad. He wasnt that kind of person. Chad was a good man and while his heart may have ultimately failed him, it was made of gold. He will be missed. Rest in Peace Chad.

  12. For those who did not know my son Chad. He had the biggest heart and was a feeler. Whether he was dealing with his employees as a CEO of his company in the board room or a dad helping to coach his daughters volley ball and softball team or rescuing and nurturing baby squirrels, he cared about all people and creatures. His kindness and intelligence was obvious from the moment you met him. He is certainly being missed. Glenn Seymour

  13. Chicken Bean was and always will be a bright light in our lives. We loved him as much as our own sons. We will miss him. Bob & Shirley

  14. Glenn & Phyllis, Ann & I send our deepest sympathy to you and all of your family on your loss. Sorry we never got to know Chad, but we are very thankful to have you as friends. Charlie & Ann Finch Greensboro

  15. John and I are deeply saddened to hear of the death of our neighbor, Chad Seymour. Although our visits to Rocky Mount were not all that frequent, we delighted in all the times we would look out our window and see Chad playing with his children or working in the yard. A true family man, he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, DeeAnn, and with all your family. John and Anne Harrell
