Robert “Lowell” Harris

June 20, 1938 ~ August 8, 2018

Red Oak - Robert Lowell Harris, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018. He was born in Nash County, NC on June 20, 1938 to the late Albert Lee Harris and Beatrice Leonard Harris. He was preceded in death by his brother Albert Perry Harris. Lowell's life was well-lived and he was well-loved. He grew up on the family farm and was no stranger to hard work. His work ethic was strong and it shaped the lives of those around him. He was a Registered Professional Land Surveyor and poultry farmer for more than 30 years. He was a volunteer fireman and served on the board of the Red Oak Fire Department. He also served on the Town of Red Oak planning board and as a deacon at Red Oak Baptist Church. We believe he probably started working as soon as he could walk and was still measuring and surveying in his mind until his final days. Being busy, measuring, fixing things and working outside was his passion. One friend said that because he is now healed and with our Heavenly Father, he is probably helping Him survey heaven. He leaves behind a loving, devoted wife of 57 years, Margaret Jones Harris. Two children, Jim Albert Harris and wife Pam of Red Oak, and Monica Harris Dood and husband Joel of Raleigh; and three grandchildren, Joshua Harris and fianc Aarika Weaver of Red Oak, Allison and Sarah Dood of Raleigh. He will be remembered by his sister Dianne Dessauer and husband Phil Dessauer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; plus numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Red Oak Baptist Church, 5515 Red Oak Road, Red Oak with Rev. Chris Fowler officiating, and eulogy presented by Jim Harris. Music provided by Brenda Jones. Visitation and lunch will follow the service. Lowell's final journey was not easy. The family would like to thank the friends and caregivers from Community Home Care and Hospice and our devoted sitters Dorothy Nicholson, Mattie Davis, Christine Moody and Norma Jean. We will forever be grateful for your kindness, love and patience. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Lowell Harris, to the Red Oak Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 260, Red Oak NC 27868. 3. Harris Family, It is with sadness that our family heard of Mr. Harris’ passing. I have fond memories of him. I often recall his laugh and smile. I’m sorry that we will not be able to attend the service tomorrow due to having mama’s funeral today. I know it has been a long road for the family with Mr Harrls’ sickness but you all have remained faithful. Know that me and Gina are thinking and praying for you all. God Bless Frank & Gina Brown

  4. I am sorry to hear about the death of Mr. Harris. He will be greatly missed. Death brings such sorrow and pain to our lives and we all must face it in some way. Thankfully, we have the promise of the resurrection to look forward to. Stated at Acts 2415, there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous. It is a true blessing to be able to hug our love ones again. Sending the family my condolences.

  5. May God’s peace and comfort rest upon the family during this difficult time. We are sorry to learn of your loss. God bless, Lee Cyrus, Jr. & Janice Cyrus-Perry

  6. We are very sorry for your loss of your father, Jim, Pam & family. We are thinking about you all. ❤️ Joan & Roger Meyland
