ELM CITY - Clayton "Clay" W. Clark, Jr., age 58, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Clay was born in Wilson County, NC on March 5, 1960. He was preceded in death by his father, C. Wayne Clark, Sr.
Clay was a godly man, who had a heart for the Lord. God was first in Clay's earthly life, and now Clay will be forever with the Lord.
Clay is temporarily separated from his loving wife, Vivian; their beautiful children, Dustin Clark and wife, Katie, and Holly Denton and husband, Christopher; precious grandson, Dillon Clark; devoted parents Shirley and Moses Hayes; and his caring sisters, Dolly Dickens, Cathy Clark and Gina Goddard and husband, Terry. Clay will be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended loving family and dear friends.
A Funeral Service in memory of Clay will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor Bryan Creech and wife, Karen, of Emmanuel FWB Church officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

So sorry to hear of Clay’s passing. We went to school together through out Junior high and High school and were good friends. I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Clay but we are sure that he is in a better place. We knew Clay as he was growing up on Russell Street and worked with him @ Abbott Labs for many years. Our thoughts and Prayers are with the Family, Randy & Diane Rivenbark.

I am sorry to hear of Clay passing I worked with Clay at Abbott lab for a long time I thought a lot of Clay he was always such a nice person.May God be with you at this trouble time.
May our Lord bless and comfort you and your family during this time of grief. Please accept my sincere condolences. Clay, Ricky and I spent countless hours playing Baseball, Basketball, Football in the park beside Clay’s house growing up. Clay was one of the finest person I have ever known and I thank God for having such a friend as him. Clay will be terribly missed. He was loved by all that knew him and he will be cherished in our memories forever.
My memories of Clay were from when we were all living in the housing projects. We really had some good times. RIP CLAY NO MORE PAIN SHALL YOU FEEL.
