Ryan Tillman “Kit” Jackson, III

ROCKY MOUNT - Ryan Tillman “Kit” Jackson, III, age 71, entered Heaven on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Born in Lexington County, South Carolina on June 3, 1946, he was the son of the late Ryan Tillman Jackson, Jr. and Jaqueline Craft Rucker. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Legree Rucker. Born and raised in Swansea, South Carolina, Ryan, or “Kit” as many knew him as, played college football for the Clemson University Tigers in South Carolina and remained a loyal fan throughout his life. In his spare time, he also enjoyed playing a round or two of golf as well as being an avid turkey hunter. His career as a Licensed Insurance Agent spanned many years until his retirement from Farm Bureau. Kit was a supporter and active member with Meals on Wheels as well as with the United Community Ministries. Together, he and his wife attended and were members of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount. Kit is survived by his wife Julie “Bett” Barnes Jackson; his children, Ryan Tillman Jackson, IV and his wife Stacey, Michael Emerson Jackson and his wife Maureen, Jennifer Jackson Corley and her husband Bryan, Joseph Jones, Clay Daughtridge, and Adam Daughtridge and his wife Leigh; and his grandchildren, Davis and Alyssa Jackson, Michael Emerson, Jr. and Kenny Jackson, Emily and Erin Corley, Ian Jones, Haylee Babson, and Mason and Baker Daughtridge. He is also survived by his sister Lora Beth Rucker; and several nephews. A Gathering of Family and Friends to Celebrate Kits Life will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kits name to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 7611, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.   7. Although I never knew Kit., I am a big Clemson fan. Kit was about 4 years older than me. I went to Clemson games as a young boy when I could. He was one of my all times favorites. Reading his obit it says the story of the man he was. He gave 110% in All Things in life!! Rest In Peace in Eternal Paradise My Man!!

  8. Kit blessed me with friendship, support, and words of guidance when I needed them most. His love for God and family were a model of caring every man should seek to emulate. May God walk with you in your grief and bless you with joyous memories.
