Rocky Mount - Margaret "Mardy" Corbett Callaway, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Born in Bladen County, NC on July 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James Lawrence Corbett, Sr. and Kathleen Marshall Corbett. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Callaway, Sr.
Mardy leaves behind to cherish her memory four sons, Joseph N. Callaway, II and wife Karen of Rocky Mount, John R. Callaway, Jr. and wife Sonya of Fuquay-Varina, James D. Callaway and wife Cynthia of Poquoson, VA, and Robert M. Callaway and wife Robin of Greensboro; three sisters, Hazel Gideon of Wilmington, Sarah Katherine Behrenshausen of Knoxville, TN, and Laurel L. Smith of Clayton; and a brother, James Lawrence Corbett, Jr. of Kelly. Mardy will also be dearly missed by her eight grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Black River Presbyterian Church, 65 Eddie L. Jones Road, Ivanhoe, NC 28447 with Rev. Mary Kathleen Duncan, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Rocky Mount, officiating. Visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Black River Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 65 Eddie L. Jones Road, Ivanhoe, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mardy's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 3737 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27612
