Frances “Franny” Holtzclaw Braswell

ROCKY MOUNT - Frances “Franny” Alberta Holtzclaw Braswell, age 86, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015. She was born January 8, 1929 in Charlotte, NC the daughter of the late David Albert Holtzclaw and Mary Frances Ritter Holtzclaw. Frances worked for Southern Bell for 43 years. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church and an active participant in Primetimers and Meals on Wheels. Frances is survived by her son, David Braswell; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Braswell; and grandchildren, Maggie and Jordan. She is also survived by her nieces, Jill and Emily Helms and Linda Norman and her children Kim and Jay; and leaves behind numerous long time friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Braswell; and sisters, Mary Hartsell, Elsie Riggins and Laura Holtzclaw. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Chapel of Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Greg ONeil officiating. A visitation prior to services will begin at 1:00 pm, at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Frances during these last few years.   1. I’m sorry to learn of Mrs. Braswell’s passing. She was a dear friend of my grandmother, Mary Frances Watkins, and I enjoyed many meals with the two of them when I was in college. She was always so kind to me.

  2. My deepest condolences to the Braswell family, may you find comfort in prayer and the beautiful words of Isaiah 258 where God promises us that He will soon cease all death and suffering.
