Lizzie Draper Long

Lizzie Draper Long, age 95, went to be with her Lord on October 18, 2014. Lizzie was born on August 17, 1919, Draper Crossroads, Halifax County, North Carolina. She is predeceased by her father, David Lee Draper, mother, Etta Mae Browning Draper, husband, Johnny C. Long, brother, Edwin Draper, twin sister, Mattie Draper, who survived five months and sisters Eleanor Williams and Marietta Irby. Lizzie is survived by her loving son, J. Carlton Long of Raleigh, and his life partner, Gary B. Hester. Lizzies extended family includes Desiree Hester Fuchsbichler, and her husband Christian and their children, Alex and Caroline of Arnfels, Austria. Lizzie is also survived by several nieces and nephews. At age 95, Lizzie was the oldest surviving member of Castalia Baptist Church. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, NC. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Castalia Baptist Church, Main Street, Castalia, NC. A graveside service and burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville, NC in the family plot. Flowers will be most appreciated and welcomed.
