Carol “Cookie” Joyce Beaudin, age 68, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2015 at her home in Rocky Mount, North Carolina with her loving husband by her side following her 12 month courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born March 30, 1947, in Marietta, Georgia, the daughter of Alice M. (Bedard) Mazinski and Richard F. Mazinski. At an early age, Carol moved with her family to North Adams, Massachusetts where she attended local schools. She was a 1966 graduate of Drury High School, where she was Co-Captain of the Varsity cheerleaders and was active in all school activities. Carol attended Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and completed her education at Charles H. McCann Vocational Technical School earning her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. In 1968, Carol married her Sweetheart and Best Friend, Michael W. Beaudin also of North Adams, Massachusetts. During their 46 years of marriage they raised a family consisting of 3 loving children and 8 wonderful grandchildren. While living mostly in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, Carol was committed to her nursing career at North Adams Regional Hospital, also having worked in hospitals in Boston and Fairbanks, Alaska, and raising her young family. In 1990, Carol and Mike relocated to Plattsburgh, New York where Carol attended and earned her degree from Our Lady of Victory Secretarial School as well as worked in the medical office of Dr. David Anderson. Carol devoted herself to the care of her mother enjoying Saturday morning yard sales and breakfast at the diner. She also nurtured her love for gardening as a volunteer with the Kent-Delord House Museum Garden Club. Carol and Mike headed south for retirement in 2008. Rocky Mount, North Carolina provided a climate for them to enjoy their passions for gardening and golf. She enjoyed volunteering with the Rocky Mount Garden Club where she introduced the annual “Garden of Your Dreams” fundraiser. Having an interest in becoming a Master Gardener, Carol immersed herself into the Nash County Master Gardener Volunteer Association where she was a steward in the ongoing Pollinator Garden Project. Carol cultivated beautiful gardens at home and many friendships within the gardening community. Gardening, spending time with family and friends, and spending time at the beach collecting thousands of seashells brought Carol the most joy and tranquility. Carol loved to dance and music warmed her soul. Carol is survived by her beloved husband Michael W. Beaudin, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, her son, Scott Beaudin and his wife Michelle of Richmond, Virginia; their children Alex and Emily, her daughter, Cindy (Beaudin) Campopiano and her husband Kevin of Richmond, Virginia; their children Sophie and Owen, and daughter Jill (Beaudin) Poveda and her husband Michael of Nyack, New York; and their children Tony, Billy, Christina and Olivia, and a brother Richard E. Mazinski and his wife Kris, of Westfield, Massachusetts. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. The family will always remember her love for her three cats Elsie, Lucy and Lizzie. Carol always loved this anonymous quote, “Every moment of every day; cherish life, laughter, people, sunrises and sunsets, little caterpillars, funny children; please guys - dont wait until you or your loved ones get a life threatening illness to fully embrace how beautiful life is, and that which stresses you is, in all likelihood, the small stuff”. Carol had expressed her deep appreciation to Dr. John Huffman and his staff as well as her overall health care support team, and her relatives and friends who have provided endless support, prayers and compassion throughout her fight. Carol and Michael would also like to offer a special thank you to Friends of Hospice of Nash General for their comfort, love and support as they helped guide Carol through her final journey. Lit a candle in memory of Carol Cookie Joyce Beaudin
My condolence to the family. May the God Almighty, comfort you with his word Ps. 3729, is a promise for the future. All thou the Bible we are given words of comfort, for our loss, in times of grief. One of my favorite verses is John 1125, Jesus said I am the resurrection & the life. It is thru this promise that we can look forward to seeing our loved ones again.
