Frances Charlotte Henderson Pirkey Wilson of Rocky Mount, N.C., died March 24, 2015, after a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer. Born in Rocky Mount on July 26, 1928, to the late Clyde and Elizabeth Henderson, she was the younger of two children. She was predeceased by her brother Clyde Henderson, her son John Frederick Pirkey, II, her husband Dean Wilson, and her ex-spouse Norwood Pirkey, Sr. “Too Too” was a graduate of Rocky Mount High School, class of 1945, and she enjoyed her work on the reunion committee for many years. A long-time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, she also was a church office volunteer. In addition, she worked for Planters Bank for a number of years. Too championed conservative causes, and she was a clerk for Representative Sam Ellis in the N.C. state legislature. A patriot and conservative to the core, she was a faithful fan of Fox News, and friends and family knew not to call during her viewing time. She often bemoaned the liberalism that she saw as the “ruination” of America, often exclaiming, “I am so glad I was born when I was!”
Too had a very reverent personal faith in Jesus Christ, her Saviour; and she reared her children in the Church. A long-time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, we remember her beautiful voice, how hearteningly she sang. She would prayerfully recite the creeds, her soul kneeling as much as she.
True to the end, never was there any doubt about who was “Too” Wilson. She lived unapologetically and undeterred as the person she was-a faithful wife, mother, and friend. During her illness, she never complained once, and when asked how she was doing during this time, she always replied with a simple, yet resounding “Wuuunderful.” With Big Band music in the background we lift our glasses of Port in a toast to you, Too Too! We will miss you so much.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Westbrook Pirkey of Dallas, TX; her three sons, Norwood Lee Pirkey, Jr. (Agnes) of Rocky Mount, Michael Chevalier Pirkey (Susan) of Wilmington, NC and Marion Douglas Pirkey (Patti Jo) of Little Chute, WI; a stepdaughter, Nancy Cole Wilson of Washington, NC; and 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
I worked with her at Planters Bank. Her friendly smile and upbeat personality were always a joy whenever ours paths crossed. May the fond memories of your mother & grandmother and especially her unwavering faith bring comfort to you during this time of sorrow.

To Douglas and all of the Pirkey family, I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Wilson was a lovely lady. She was a wonderful neighbor to us when we lived over on Fairview road. I’d planned to attend the visitation this evening but I’m afraid I have a cold virus and think it would be in everyone’s best interest for me to stay away. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Douglas, I’m sorry I won’t be able to see you on this trip. I’ve always thought a great deal of you. My condolences and love to you and your family. Ginger Batts Bruce
