Betty Joel Langley Fisher, 75, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Rocky Mount on August 25, 1938 to the late Jackson Lee Langley, Sr. and Sarah Tharrington Langley. She was a 1956 graduate of Benvenue High School and attended East Carolina University.
She was recently preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence “Coy” Fisher and siblings, Mary Lewis Langley Burton and Jackson Lee Langley, Jr.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sarah Cameron Fisher of the home and her special friend, Scott Smith of Rocky Mount, and Becky Fisher Parks and her husband Julian of Rocky Mount, her grandchildren, Sarah Bett Parks Taylor of Roanoke Rapids, and JR Parks, III of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and great grandchild, Sage Langley Burch of Roanoke Rapids. Her sister-in-law, Barbara L. Fisher, special family members, Harry and Florence McKeel and close friends Mike, Kay and Tanner Hall, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Betty was a sustaining member of the Junior Guild of Rocky Mount where she served as Corresponding Secretary, she was also a charter member of Englewood United Methodist Church.
Visitation with the family was held Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Fisher. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Terry Huffines officiating.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Junior Guild of Rocky Mount Scholarship Fund or The Fred E. Turnage Local Chapter of the American Red Cross.
