ROCKY MOUNT - Ronald Edwin Batts, age 67, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017. Born in Wilson County, NC on March 6, 1950, he was the son of the late Leon Edwin Batts and Ophelia Evelyn Glover Batts. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Debra Batts Roderick and brother-in-law, Gerald Roderick.
Ronald was an independent brick layer and general contractor for many years as well as a commercial fisherman for 18 years. Following his retirement, he continued as a sales clerk at Rigby Electric Supply. Ronald had a love for playing music and he also enjoyed playing golf. A loving husband, brother, and friend, Ronald will be dearly missed and will never be forgotten.
Ronald leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 48 years, Betty Daughtridge Batts. He is also survived by his sister, Judy B. Manning and her husband, Ray, of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Patricia Poole and her husband, Marvin, of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jessie McGowan of Rocky Mount; brother-in-law, Tommy Lee Daughtridge and his wife, Judy, of Bath; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

Betty, I am so sorry to hear about Ronald. I did not realize he was this sick. This really hurts me , because I know how much you love him and he loved you. I am just so sorry.
