Doris Jean “DJ” Walker Miller

ROCKY MOUNT - Doris Jean "DJ" Walker Miller, age 81, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017. Born in Charleston, WV on July 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Jack Walker and Elsie May Turner Walker. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Allan Roberts; and brother, William Carrol Walker. DJ leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband, Frank Miller; son, Frank Miller, Jr. of Richlands, NC; and daughters, Deborah Gurganus of Emerald Isle, NC; Carolyn Lee Scisci of Fort Myers, FL; Barbara "Bobbi" Ray Lengel of Clayton, NC; Mary Miller of Richmond, VA; and Ruth Ann Thomas of Vanceboro, NC. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kimberly, Michael, Melissa, Kenny, Amanda, Kevin, Steven, Kristen, Heather, Thelia, Hunter, Christopher, and Fern; 21 great-grandchildren; and two nieces. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Atrium.
