    • My name is Will Guttu. I just learned of WB’s passing today. I was the one with the rental vehicle which was driven from Salt Lake City back to NC after 911. I know you have heard the story how we met. When I introduced myself to WB and Bunn Woodard, WB asked if I was related to Frank Guttu? I said he was my father. WB said have a seat we were in the National Guard together. I enjoyed our 48 hour trip back. I also saw where Frankie passed a few years ago. I am sorry for your loss. He made such a positive impact. I now live in Myrtle Beach.

  8. We have wonderful memories of W B. Suzanne (Whitehurst) and I were members of Edgemont Presbyterian and always enjoyed church activities with W B and his family. W B also recommended me for membership in the Masonic order in Rocky Mount. He was truly a brother to me in the Masons. WB also performed the military orders at my Father in laws funeral ( EG Whitehurst) and we were so appreciated that he honored EG’s
Military service. Suzanne and I are so sad to hear of his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
    Chris Marshall ( Suzanne)

  9. Mattie and boys,
Remembering days when we were back door neighbors on Avondale ct and Wellington dr. May you find peace and comfort from the love of family and friends and your faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
    Love Annette Allen

  10. I didn’t Mr Bullock as a “long lost friend”, but respected him very much…the title “Southern Gentleman” with a heart of gold and service to Rocky Mount fits him to a tee! When I would go to the city council meetings, he was the member that I could trust to be “level headed” and would make sense to be on the city’s side for it’s good…not personal gain and recognition for himself…for the city as a whole. And unlike Clarence in the movie ” It”s a Wonderful Life” I feel W.B.’s got his wings on his 1st day in Heaven for sure!!!A good, good man! Morrie Minges

  11. We are saddened by the loss of such a wonderful life and grieve with the Bullock family and friends.

  12. In deepest sympathy for your loss. A grateful nation shares in your grief. Weave in faith and God will find the thread…

  13. Mattie and family, we cannot attend the service on Thursday, but we wanted to let you know how sorry we were to read of W.B.’s passing. We had not seen him since he was a pallbearer at my daddy’s funeral in February 2015. A couple of years ago, I sent W.B. a letter thanking him for a letter that he had sent after Daddy’s, John Pollard’s, retirement from the N.C. National Guard. Daddy had framed it and had it on the wall in his office. Even after dementia took away many of the meaningful things in his life, he would stand and read that letter silently over and over and say how special that was to him. He always had the most genuine respect for W.B. in all aspects of his life. I could not find some photos Daddy had of them in the old NCNG days, but I was able to put my hands on four of a visit W.B. and Lester Weaver made in November 2013. They had a good time reminiscing, later including my mother, Reba.
    What a wonderful day!

You have our sincere sympathy. May whatever you need be there for you all, when you need it. May peace beyond understanding, comfort, kindness and love hold you closely today and in the days ahead.

  14. WB was a good friend and he will be missed. I played golf with him at least 1000 times or more at Birchwood Country Club and at Northgreen Country Club. He was a great person to be around.
