Willie Eugene “Boe” Patterson

Rocky Mount - Willie Eugene "Boe" Patterson, age 79, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016. Born in Nash County, NC on February 17, 1937, he was the son of the late Robert P. Patterson and Lula Wells Patterson. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Carlyle Patterson; and one sister, Louise Crickmore. Boe retired from the Rocky Mount Police Department after 30 years in 1992 as Lieutenant. A man of great faith, he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school, was an usher and a former Deacon. He was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Boe leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Annette Riley Patterson; his sons, Kevin Patterson of Rocky Mount and Kyle Patterson and his wife, Donna, of Rocky Mount; and his daughter, Kelly Winstead and her husband, Keith, of Elm City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cameron, Joshua, Ben and Samuel Patterson; and Kayla, Kensey, and Kelsey Winstead; two brothers, Marvin Patterson and wife, Margaret, of Rocky Mount and Mick Patterson and wife, Peggy, of Rocky Mount; one sister, Betty Marie Pugh of Rocky Mount; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2:30 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 505 S. Englewood Drive, Rocky Mount with the Pastor Brandon Dees officiating. A private family burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 505 S. Englewood Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. JAN. 1975 SAM LARRY & I MOVED ONTO RUSSELL ST. AND FINDING OUT SOON AFTER WE HAD TWO POLICE OFFICERS AND TWO SECURITY OFFICERS LIVING ON OUR STREET,, HOW MUCH SAFER COULD WE ALL HAVE BEEN lol AND THEN AS THE CHILDREN GOT OLDER WE HAD THE BEST PAPER CARRIERS IN THE WORLD, WITH THE HELP OF DADDY AND MAMA OCASSIONALLY. SOME OF THE BEST NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS PEOPLE COULD HAVE; BOE WILL TRULY BE MISSED BY MANY.   7. I can never recall my career in law enforcement without Lt. Patterson being up front and center. He carried me to Tharrington’s at Tarrytown to get my firstduty belt, gave me the best advice he could about the life that lay ahead of me and I still use that advice today. He was fair and honest in all our dealings and will truly be missed. RIP Lt. Patterson.
