Wallace Randy Glover

April 24, 1961 ~ October 26, 2024

Resided in: Tarboro, NC

TARBORO – Wallace Randy Glover, age 63, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024.  Born in Wilson County, NC on April 24, 1961, he was the son of the late Wallace Ray Glover and Joyce Crisp Glover.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Susie Parrish.

Wallace is survived by his son, Clayton Wallace Glover; his daughter, Bailey Glover Rios (spouse, Vidal); and their mother, Ernie Glover Shaw; his grandchildren, Jonah Glover, Sebastian Fouse-Rios, Nolan Glover, Bennett Glover, Nolan Rios, Andrea Rios, and Sylas Rios; his brother, Donald Glover; his sister, Christy Edmonds (spouse, Pat); his nephew, Cooper Voutsas; his nieces, Olivia Little, Jordan Glover, and Rebecca Edmonds; his best friend since the 7th grade, Mark Arrington; and his beloved dog, Buddy.

Wallace wanted to be known as Wallace later in life.  However, most people knew him as Randy.  He was the kindest, most humble, most gentle spirit one would ever meet.  Even though he would jokingly sign his messages, letters, or greeting cards as “mean ol’ daddy / granddaddy, or uncle”, his family knew him as being quite the opposite.  If you ever needed to talk to someone that could just listen and not interject their opinions or encouragements until the perfect times, it was Randy.  He had so much empathy and compassion for people.  He absolutely loved his family.  He wanted nothing more than to talk to them and hear about their day. He was always so proud of his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces, and he never let a moment slip by without telling them how proud he was of them. He would light up telling people about his kids and their accomplishments.  He always described his son, Clay, as his superhero, and his daughter, Bailey, as his princess.

Wallace was also known for his ability to act out his favorite scenes from movies or just his crazy antics.  He was an incredible storyteller. No matter how many times you had heard one of his stories, you still listened intently, and you still laughed like it was the first time you heard it.  The biggest reason for that was because he would tell the story with as much enthusiasm as if it had just happened and with his infectious laugh.  This was especially the case when he would tell stories about his best friend, Mark, and their adventures earlier in life.  Wallace also had an incredible imagination.  He would write short narrative stories that were hilarious.  He was also able to create anything that he put his mind to. Wallace was a medically retired officer for the former North Carolina Department of Corrections. He absolutely loved his career there and talked about it often.  He had the nickname, “Officer Smell-Good”.  Anyone who knew Randy, knew that he always took great care of his appearance and always smelled good!

People also knew that Randy was an avid Titanic fan.  He fell in love with the wreck of the Titanic and her many stories when it was first discovered in September 1985.  He collected artifacts from the Titanic over the years, as well as artifacts from her sister ship, the RMS Olympic.  If there was something he couldn’t purchase, either because it was just too expensive, or not even a possibility, he would figure out how to make an exact replica of it.  His daughter will tell you that he would have been an incredible museum fabricator.  Not only was he good at making artifacts, but he was also a great woodworker, and painter.  He built 2 boats, furniture, and a grandfather clock, among many things.  His paintings were mostly of landscapes and would have rivaled Bob Ross’s pieces. He will forever be loved and in the hearts of anyone who had the honor of knowing him.
