ROCKY MOUNT - Thomas "Tom" Richard Watt Jr., age 73, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Born in Kearney, NJ on June 1, 1943, he was the son of the late Thomas Richard Watt, Sr. and Josephine Mashino Watt. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Watt.
Throughout his whole life, Tom enjoyed every single day and never met a stranger. He filled his days spending time with his family and making memories he dearly cherished. He severed his country in the Navy for four years. Thomas was a craftsman and loved working with his hands. His family was most important to him and enjoyed spending time with them. Tom was a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Tom leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 50 years, Nancy V. Watt; daughters, Amy Watt Zigre and husband, Joseph, of Franklinton; and Carrie Peede and husband, Scott, of Bailey. He is also survived by grandchildren, Andrew Zigre, Jonathan Zigre, Erika Peede, Elizabeth Peede, and Ethan Peede; and sister, Shirley Bergman of PA.
A Celebration of Tom's Life will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Darrel Davis officiating. A visitation with the family will immediately follow the service in the Atrium at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.
