Terry Allen Vick

December 15, 1950 ~ December 3, 2016

ROCKY MOUNT - Terry Allen Vick, age 65, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Born in Rocky Mount, NC on December 15, 1950, he was the son of the late Paul A. Vick and Mildred Mills Vick. He was also preceded in death by his son, Terry Allen Vick, Jr.; his first wife, Paula Burnette Vick; his grandson, William Allen Carter; and his brother, Dannie Vick. Terry was a member of the Rocky Mount Church of the Nazarene. He was a leader and cherished member of the community, having served as a volunteer fireman with the Battleboro Volunteer Fire Department and as an EMT-I with the Stoney Creek Rescue Squad. He enjoyed his time as a husband, father and grandfather during his retirement from over 20 years of work at the Battleboro Hardware Store. His gift of singing brought joy to many. Terry's passion for music continued throughout his life from his early days as a drummer in "The Road Runners", a singer in the Rocky Mount Barbershop Chorus, to his time as a praise team leader at the churches he attended. Terry will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, and most of all for his unconditional love to all that knew him. Terry spent his final days at his home in Rocky Mount in the loving care of his wife and dedicated caregivers: Felicia Blackmore, Vickie Griffin, Greg Howell, and Shayna Howell. The family is eternally grateful for the love and special care shown by friends, family, and the church community. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 13 years, Joan Vick; his daughter, Julie Carter and husband, Ron; his step-son, Tyler Lester and wife, Kelly; his step-daughter, Emily Lester. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Breanna, Eion, Isabel, Solomon, and Aeneas; his sister, Judy Vick; and sister-in-law, Rita Vick. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Mark Eby officiating. Burial will follow at Battleboro Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UNC Children's Hospital, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. 1. My Buddy Terry, You were skyways a faithful disciple and servant. You now have your spiritual inheritance and are pain free. God Bless You. Your buddy, Steve Felton

  2. Terry was such a joy to be around. His sense of humor and singing could always be heard in the hardware store. His love and kindness was shared thru his unconditional friendship to his buddy my Uncle Henry who adored him. I know he is rejoicing, singing and smiling as he is reunited with those who he held near and dear to his heart. He has left a mark on our hearts and lives forever. Until we meet again buddy!

  3. My Dad and Terry working together and the MANY stories that they used to tell about growing up. I loved going to Terry’s house in Battleboro . We couldn’t leave till Dad and Terry played 96 years on the organ. Looking back they truly were best friends for life. Go rest high buddy!!

  4. I miss him so much already. It was an honor to be with him and his family and give them the love and care that God would have wanted me to give them. Rest in Paradise Terry Berry, my friend, my brother.

  5. Our family was so blessed to have Terry in our lives. Such a brother to Denise, Christie, and Beth Burnette….. Joan, we have been in awe of your wonderful spirit and love for Terry. What a blessing your love and marriage has been. Sending you love and prayers always….

  6. I wish I could have met Terry. From the stories Julie has told me he sounds like a wonderful man. Now he is at peace and having an amazing reunion of his loved ones in our Father’s House. God bless you all Vick family. Kevin and I love you!

  7. I want to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Terry Allen Vick. The bible tells us we can gain comfort from God, even during times of sorrow. We pray to our heavenly father for help to cope with the sorrow felt from the death of a loved one. By prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Philippians 46 May you find comfort by relying on our heavenly father and learning more about the blessings of God’s kingdom. Local ministry volunteer

  8. I’m sorry I didn’t think to write something sooner. It was my pleasure to meet Terry when he and my good friend Joan stopped by to visit with me while on vacation in Michigan. What an honor to meet him. At the time I thought it was just the first of many meetings not the only one. But Praise God for the one time. My heart goes out to the entire Vick family, what a loss. Love you Joan…Mary Longstreth
