Teddy Rayburn Little

February 23, 1939 ~ January 1, 2015

Teddy Rayburn Little, Sr., age 75, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015. Born on February 23, 1939, he was the son of the late Frank Little and Lulu Bridgers Little. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jeanette L. Joyner and his grandson, Jonathan Derek Simmons, Jr. Born in Wilson County, Teddy was a lifelong resident of Rocky Mount, retiring from the U.S. Postal Service after forty-two years of service. A genuine family man, he was known to share his corny jokes, heard many times over but always welcomed followed by "rolling of eyes" and complimented with "good one Papa." He will be remembered as a man who in the truest sense would give the shirt off his back to help even a stranger in need. Put best by his granddaughter, "the world has lost a heck of a man." Left to cherish his memory are his son, Teddy "Chip" Rayburn Little, Jr. and wife, Karen Lynette of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchild, Kelli Amanda Little of Charleston, SC; brothers, Donald Ray Little and wife, Hulda of Rocky Mount, NC and Wilbur Kenneth Little and wife, Elizabeth of Charleston, SC. In addition, he is survived by his former wife, Donna "Bunny" K. Davis of Florence, SC and by many special nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 2:00pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Dr. John Browning officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. 1. Donald, Vernon just called me to tell me about Teddy, I have just watched the video. I was pleasantly surprised to see the picture of me and Pre with Teddy in front of the fireplace. I actually remember the picture. Teddy was a good person and the best friend a person could have. He always had a joke to tell and always had a smile on his face. Yes, He would actually give you the shirt off his back. He had a good word for everyone and I always enjoyed his company. Teddy was a good man and I know that he has gone to a better place. I know you will miss him.,,,,because it was always Donald and Teddy. I believe that he always looked up to you .
