SPRING HOPE – Sylvia Vester Flora, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on February 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Hawkins Vester and Mencie Deans Vester. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Willard, Bernice, Hubert, Woodrow, Curtis Vester; and sister, Christine Vester Price.
Sylvia loved making things with her hands, especially custom draperies, floral arrangements, and crocheted novelties. She was a lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Sylvia touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered with love and kindness, as she was the matriarch of the family. A devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Sylvia will be dearly missed and will never be forgotten.
Sylvia leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of 58 years, Jesse Floyd Flora; daughter, April Kay Flora; and son, Dean Paul Flora and wife, Veronica, as well as one granddaughter, Leighanna; all of Spring Hope. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Spring Hope. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
