Susie Leonard Bartholomew, age 80, passed away peacefully Monday, March 24, 2014. Born in Franklin County on March 18, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Eugene B. Leonard and Lillie Valentine Leonard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert “Dick” G. Bartholomew; sisters, Mary L. Nash, Pansy L. German, Rochelle L. Hayes and Nancy Leonard; and brother, Wilton Eugene Leonard.
Susie was the Cafeteria Manager with the Nash-Rocky Mount School System for many years. Later she worked at Southern Bank until her retirement.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she leaves behind her daughter, Gina Bartholomew; and son, Tim Bartholomew, both of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Ashlei Bartholomew Jackson and husband Jeremy, Chad Bartholomew and Casey Bartholomew; great-grandson, Ethan; sisters, Marjorie L. Dickerson and Nell L. Wrenn, both of Louisburg; and brother, Sam Leonard of Louisburg.
A service to remember Sue will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Robin Fisher and Rev. Shelby Stephens officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:30pm prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
