Shirley Mae Weaver Boyd

Rocky Mount – Shirley Mae Weaver Boyd, age 83, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025.  Born in Vance County, NC on May 6, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Joe Weaver, Jr. and Nellie Gray Robinson Weaver.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roland Terry Boyd, Jr.; and her brother, Joe Weaver, III.

Shirley worked at White’s Supermarket for over 15 years.  She enjoyed working in the yard, cross stitching, and cooking for her family.  Above all, she cherished her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandbabies; and she held tight the many memories that were created over the years.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Handwritten notes that were found in Shirley’s wallet:

1. Welcome the unexpected in life. Learn to bend with Grace. Let yourself grow, be humble and never forget to look for the beauty changes can bring.
2. Once you’ve experienced true love, you don’t want anybody else.
3. Laughter is the hand of God on the shoulders of a trouble world.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Faith Renee Boyd; her son, Roland Terry Boyd, III (Patricia); her grandchildren, Deanna Beamon (Spencer), Corey Boyd (Danielle), Sara Worthington (Ben), and Luke Webb; her great-grandchildren, Aubree, Ainsley, and Kaiden; her brother, Layton Weaver; her sister-in-law, Jeannette Weaver; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
