Ruth Hope Roper Matthews, died on Monday, February 16, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Edward Roper and Christine Tyler Roper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Lee Matthews, Sr., her son, Roland Lee Matthews, Jr. and her brother, Robert Edward Roper.
She is survived by her son, Gary McCoy Matthews and his wife, Jan and their children, Ariel and Adam Matthews; her daughter-in-law, Martha Matthews and her children, Captain Roland Lee Matthews, III and his wife, Misty, Nina Davis and her husband, Nathan, Frances Finch and her husband, Todd; and Elizabeth Chandler and her husband, Donald Wayne. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren, Landon and Alexis Dene Matthews and Caraline and Ethan Davis; sister-in-law, Shirley, (Mrs. Donald Maschinski) and nephews, Dave and Don Maschinski.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Pineview Cemetery with Reverend Jim Bell of First United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can all look forward to a time when death will be no more.
