Phyllis Bradley Ray

ROCKY MOUNT - Phyllis Bradley Ray, age 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on November 10, 1940, she was the daughter of the late James Arthur Bradley, Sr. and Annie Shearin Bradley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ray, Sr.; a brother, Steven Phillip Bradley. Phyllis leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Melanie Tart and husband, Joey of Dunn, NC; son, Joe Ray and wife, Debbie of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchildren, Stephanie Ray Gillespie and husband, Brian, Shelby Ray, Sarah Tart Roeser and husband, Jake, Anna Tart Daughtry and husband, Logan. She is also survived by a brother, Jim Bradley of Whitakers and special longtime friend, Sidney Long. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 100 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor Jim Bell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A Visitation will be from 1:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church and other times at the Home of Joe and Debbie Ray. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Phyllis's name to First United Methodist Church, 100 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804/Chadwick Scholarship Fund.   4. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. There is a very comforting scripture found at Isaiah 258. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can look forward to a time when death will be done away with forever. I hope that this scripture can bring some comfort during this time.
