Philip “Phil” Jackson Kirilov

ROCKY MOUNT - Philip "Phil" Jackson Kirilov, age 83, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Born in Los Angeles, CA on June 13, 1934, he was the son of the late Jack Kirilov and Ana Kirilov Seminoff. He was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. Phil proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Tech Sergeant after 20 years of service and also served as a Master Shooter on the pistol team. He also worked and contributed to NASA as an Engine Mechanic working on the Saturn Five Rocket and also was one of the first to work on the first super computer. Phil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a friend to all and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Phil leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 59 years, Judy Cawthorne Kirilov; daughters, Lisa Kirilov Wells and her husband, Clarence, of Wake Forest, Crystal "Tamara" Kirilov of Rocky Mount and her companion, Al Cannon, of Farmville, and Katherine "Katy" Kirilov Tyndall, of Tarboro. He is also survived by his grandson, who serves our country, Michael Philip Willis, great-grandchildren, Lyra H. Spaeth and Iris E. Tyndall, and sister, Sophie Sotter of Roseville, CA. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Ramon Mizell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pineview Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
