Peggy Sutton Carver, age 81, died at the home of her daughter, Nancy and son-in-law, Ronnie Turner on Thursday, February 12, 2015. She was born in Edgecombe County, NC on October 7, 1933 to the late Lonnie A. Sutton and Anniebelle Wilson Sutton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Earl Pierce; sisters, Dorothy S. Lindsay, Betty S. Schmudlach, Shirley S. Edwards, and Patricia S. Culpepper and brother, Lonnie Sutton, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Lee Carver, Jr.; daughters, Nancy P. Turner and husband, Ronnie and Kimberly Ann P. Hilhorst and husband, Kenny, all of Rocky Mount, NC; son, Richard Gregory Pierce and wife, Suzanne of Holly Springs, NC; grandchildren, Beth Turner Lewis and husband, Troy, Andrew Gregory Pierce, Brittany Huberdina Hilhorst Pardo and husband, Carl, Tyler Ellis Pierce, Victoria Elizabeth Hilhorst and Leslie Ann Nicole Hilhorst and her great-grandchildren, Kelly Grace Lewis and Colton Troy Lewis. Peggy is also survived by sisters, Martha S. Robbins and her husband George of Rocky Mount, NC and Margaret S. Deans and her husband, Marshall of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by her step-daughters, Belinda Forbes and husband, Joe of Elizabeth City, NC; Phyllis Pearce and husband, Rodger of Bailey, NC and Joan Holloman and husband, Robbie of Rocky Mount, NC.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice of Rocky Mount for their special care: Lauren Hayduk (nurse) and moms “private” CNA, Norma Richardson, Connie Burroughs, Shay Battle and Telly Pender. A special thank you to Bob Britt, Homebound Visitation of First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount, NC and to her special friends, Elizabeth Jones and Marjorie Tucker of Rocky Mount and her very special companion, her puppy, Rachael.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Reverend Larry Curtis officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
