ROCKY MOUNT – Peggy Jean Edmondson Mamo, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on May 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Spencer Staton Edmondson, Sr. and Estelle Kefauver Bowden Edmondson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Spencer Staton Edmondson, Jr. and his wife, Linda Joyner Edmondson.

She was a graduate of Rocky Mount High School and Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina with a B.S. in Biology. She also received a postgraduate degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Medical Technology.

Peggy loved praising the Lord. She spent time worshipping and studying with the missionaries at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Ashland, VA and serving her community through the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rocky Mount and many charitable organizations.

Peggy is survived by her son, Joseph Edward Mamo, III, of Neptune Beach, FL; her daughters, Lisa Bowden Mamo of Rocky Mount and Jean Staton Mamo of Washington, DC; her grandchildren, Spencer Mamo (Megan) of Colorado Springs, CO and Cline Mamo of Alexandria, VA; her great-grandchild, Eloise Mamo; and her niece, Sally Edmondson Harris of Rocky Mount.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers for their dedicated and loving support, Rosemary Hooks, Yvonne Williams, Della Mangum, and Joyce Dantzler.

A Private Family Graveside Service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at Pineview Cemetery with Rev. Susan Rebecca Michelfelder officiating.
