Patsy Batten Fisher

July 16, 1937 ~ April 13, 2015

Patsy Faye Batten Fisher, age 77, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015. She was born in Nash County on July 16, 1937 to the late Willis and Carroll Lowe Batten. A long-time member of Arlington Baptist Church, Patsy was very active in her church. She could always be found greeting her fellow parishioners with her contagious smile on Sundays, and especially enjoyed sharing her love for her Heavenly Father with children when she taught Sunday school. Mrs. Patsy was always willing to offer her support to those in need and it was clearly evident by her serving on the Bereavement Committee as well as the Communion Committee. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Patsy cherished every moment she spent with her family. Many memories can be spoken of Patsy, the love shared between her and her husband John, being her son Williss best friend, and to always being there for her other family members and friends. Family gatherings always brought bright smiles to Patsy as she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren live, learn, and play. A very special Lady she was, Patsy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Patsy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John I. Fisher; her son, Willis Lee Fisher and his wife, Audrey, of Beaufort; two grandchildren, Daniel Lee Fisher and his wife Nickie and Megan Tess Brown and her husband Shane; four great-grandchildren, Brooke Fisher, Caleb Fisher, Kaylee Fisher and Sam Fisher; and her sister, Jane Clark of Rocky Mount. Also surviving are her special nieces, Dellia Edwards and her husband, Dick, of Rocky Mount and Christy Marrow of Raleigh. A Funeral Service will be held the afternoon of Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 2 oclock at Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27803, with the Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Arlington Baptist Church one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 oclock. Flowers for the Fisher family will be accepted or memorials can be made to Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27803. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount NC 27804. 1. Sorry to hear of Patsy leaving us, but we know she is at peace and with her Lord. No more pain and no more tears. We have been missing you two in our Sunday School Class since she has not been able to be with us. John my prayers are with you and your family at this time of loss.

  2. John & family Patsy was such a beautiful lady inside and out. Always smiling and an encouragement to all. Her sunset on earth meant a never ending sunrise in Heaven. May God grant you peace as you walk this road of sorrow. We will continue to pray for you.

  3. Hi my name is Kayla and I am a local bible teacher. I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. There is a very comforting scripture at Isaiah 258. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can all look forward to a time when death will be no more. I hope that this scripture can bring some true comfort during these difficult times.
