Omie Gray Thompson Wester

ROCKY MOUNT - Omie Gray Thompson Wester, age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 after an extended illness. Born in Nash County, NC on May 16, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John Bunyan Thompson and Ethel Moss Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Wester; brothers, Louis Thompson and Henry Thompson; and sister, Annie Mae Webb. Omie was a member of Westview Baptist Church and retired from Hardees Food Systems where she was the receptionist for many years. She truly loved being outside in her yard working with her flowers and after she retired that is where she spent most of her time. Omie will be missed by all who loved and knew her. Omie is survived by her loving sons, Billy Wester of Newport, Bobby Wester of Rocky Mount, and Gary Wester and wife, Pam, of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by grandchildren, Adam Wester and wife, Sarah, Bobbie Sue Wester, Justin Wester and wife, Megan, and Meagan Wester; great-grandchildren, Gracie Hoggard and Savannah Wester; sister, Hazel Janet Paulucci, nine nieces and nephews; and many friends. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Autumn Care of Nash for their care and dedication to Omie and our family.
