Naomi “Pat” Catherine Davis Combs, 88, died on April 29, 2016 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was born in Edgecombe County on July 7, 1927. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred David Combs and the daughter of the late Gorham and Lessie Davis of Sharpsburg. Sisters Gladys Davis Bryan, Louise Davis Fisher and brothers Ambler Davis, Frank Davis, Gordon Davis, and grandson Ronnie Combs preceded her in death.
Mrs. Combs was a founding and active member of Englewood Methodist Church, including the choir, the Bereavement Committee, and former president of the Englewood Womens Society. She was also an active member of the Englewood Garden Club.
Pat Combs worked in administration at Memorial Hospital until it closed. She then worked for Dr. Sam Way, Dr. Saracina and Dr. Leon Robertson until she retired. After her retirement, she was the bookkeeper for FDC Construction.
Pat will be remembered for her enduring faith, her dedication to her church, her devotion and love for her family and friends, her ability to accomplish any task, her joy for preparing family and holiday dinners, her fried cornbread that never made it to the dinner table and her “collection” of ice chests.
Pat Combs is survived by two children: Phillip Wayne Combs and wife Peggy and David Warren Combs and wife Catherine, all of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren Chris Combs of Greenville, Kim Combs Parker and husband David, of Rocky Mount; Mollie Combs and Maggie Combs Reed and husband Trent, all of Wilmington; and Blake Tedder and wife Amelia Vogler of Hillsborough. Mrs. Combs is also survived by her sisters, Anita Davis Brinkley and husband John, Peggy Davis Newton and husband Joe; sisters in law Aileen Whitehead Davis, Charlotte Harper Davis, and Elaine Combs McCrory Grape, and many nieces and nephews, including her devoted cousin Sue Maness.
The family wishes to acknowledge the professional care given by Spring Arbor and Rocky Mount Rehabilitation Center.

David and Phillip, Your mother was a wonderful lady. I have so many wonderful memories of your family, especially Christmas Eve. Your family always dropped by Dr. Way’s house on Christmas Eve. Your mother and daddy were godparents to Skipper. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Fondly, Sandra Way
Just wanted to let the Combs family know they are in my thoughts and prayers. Miss Pat and Mr Fred were my godparents and I have very fond memories of them in Rocky Mount at my grandparents house. I will cherish those memories forever… Skipper Way
