NEW SVC DETAILS: WILMINGTON - Nancy Ellis Taylor, age 84, formerly of Rocky Mount, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Cypress Pointe Nursing Home in Wilmington. Born in Halifax County, NC on May 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late B.H. Ellis, Sr. and Doshie Price Ellis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert B. "Dickie" Taylor of Rocky Mount; sisters, Esther Young, Margie Anderson, and Janice Willey; and brother, B.H. Ellis, Jr. Nancy grew up in Rocky Mount where she created a loving home for her family. She could often be found at Braswell Memorial Library as she was an avid reader. She loved all children and animals and found joy in crafting but her favorite was making wreaths and flower arrangements. For all those who knew her well, they would remember how much she enjoyed talking, laughing, and watching TV westerns. Nancy leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Amy Taylor of Wilmington, and Robin Horne of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Erin McCoy, Sarah Horne, and April Horne; brother, Sidney Ellis; as well as her best friend, Rose Yopp; and her beloved dog, Sam. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
