Michael “Mike” Flanagan, Sr.

ROCKY MOUNT - Michael "Mike" Flanagan, Sr., age 72, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. Born in Hartford County, CT on May 4, 1949, he was the son of the late William Joseph Flanagan and Elizabeth Ernestine Murphy Flanagan. He is also preceded in death by his brother Dennis Flanagan. Mike was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for United Technologies Corporation for 25 years and retired with Gerber Scientific Inc. after 14 years. Mike loved watching sports, especially Major League Baseball games and the PGA tournaments on Sundays. A man with an all-around great personality and boundless sense of humor, Mike could light up any room with laughter. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and will be missed by all who knew him. Mike is survived by his wife Wendy Gromlovits Flanagan of Rocky Mount; his sons, Darien Flanagan (Elizabeth) of Bristol, CT, William Flanagan (Amanda) of Muskegon, MI, Michael Flanagan, Jr. of Rocky Mount, and Gregory "Greg" Flanagan of Manchester, CT; his daughter, Ashley Flanagan (Mike) also of Manchester, CT; his grandchildren, Kersty, Aaron, Sean, and Jayden Flanagan; his brother Kerry Flanagan; his sister, Sarah Gorczyca (Dennis); and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
