Mavis Vernice Taylor

TARBORO - Mavis Vernice Taylor, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on May 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Pittman and Ruby Lee Newsome Worrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Alton Taylor; and sisters, Elma Rowe and Inez Simmons. Mavis leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Tommy Ray Taylor and wife, Claudette, of Rocky Mount; and Curtis Martin Taylor of Washington, DC; and daughter, Virginia Carol Edmonson of Tarboro. She is also survived by four grandsons, 11 great-grandchildren and a special niece, Brenda Todd and husband, C.E., of Rocky Mount. The family would like to thank Prodigy Transitional Rehab in Tarboro and Vidant Hospice of Greenville for their dedicated service in caring for Mavis. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services.
