Mary Ruth Messer Viverette

ROCKY MOUNT - Mary Ruth Messer Viverette, age 93, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Born in Nash County, NC on April 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Shade Messer and Lucy Bone Messer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Edward Viverette, Sr.; and eight brothers and sisters. Mary was a member of North Rocky Mount Church of God for over 65 years. She retired from Abbott Laboratories after 15 years of dedicated service. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, and friend to all. She will be missed by all who knew her. Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Willie Edward Viverette, Jr. and wife, Diane, of Chesnee, SC and Dennis Ray Viverette of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by grandchildren, Danny Ray Viverette, Chris Edward Viverette and wife, Melody, Jeremy Ray Viverette, Melissa Viverette Alston and husband, Clifton; great-grandchildren, Amber Koon, Ashlee Viverette, Mary Viverette, Jayden Alston, Ethan Alston, Scarlett Alston, Elli Alston; three great great-grandchildren; sister, Farbie Pittman of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
