ROCKY MOUNT - Marvin Ray Patterson, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on December 9, 1925, he was the son of the late Robert Pat Patterson and Lula Wells Patterson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Julian Carlye Patterson; Willie Eugene "Bo" Patterson; and Jamie Patterson; and sister, Louise Crickmore.
Marvin worked for over 60 years in the automotive field. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Marvin leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 68 years, Margaret; sons, Alton Ray Patterson (Annette D.) of Rocky Mount; and Kenneth E. Patterson (Janice Owens) of Rocky Mount; and daughter, Donna P. Bragg of Rocky Mount. He is also survived by grandchildren, Lorie A. Patterson, Leslie Bishop, Michael S. Bragg and Dylan Patterson; great-grandchildren, Madalyn Rae High, Damien Cadena, Jacob Cadena, Kyleigh Bragg and Ty Bragg; sister, Betty Marie Pugh of Rocky Mount; brother, Mick Patterson of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Major Al Smith, Lt. Jonathan and Dawn Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Nash Hospice, as well as Dr. Douglas Boyette and Shelly Rhoades for their dedicated service in caring for Marvin.

Thanks for having me as your Daughter In Law for 46 years you will be miss but GOD has better plans for you now your work is done here. You were a good husband to your wife,the best dad to your children, grand children, and great grand children.I ask God for one wish for Christmas December 25th, 2016 and I got my wish that was to have one more Christmas dinner with you and the family and he give us that wish best Christmas every we will see you again one day you will stay in our hearts.

I want to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Marvin Ray Patterson. The bible tells us we can gain comfort from God, especially during times of sorrow. I have just discovered that a uncle of mine through marriage to my Mother’s (Alice Andrews Tew) sister Margaret. I certainly hope everyone has had time to grieve Marvins homecoming into eternal life! May the God of Peace continue to flood your hearts and soul with the Joy of the Lord.
