Margaret "Shirley" Sellers Farrell

July 9, 1938 ~ October 20, 2025

Born in: Washington , DC
Resided in: Nashville, NC

NASHVILLE – Margaret “Shirley” Sellers Farrell, age 87, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025.  Born in Washington, DC on July 9, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Gray Sellers, Sr. and Margaret Lee Luper Sellers.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Wayne” Farrell; her son, Mark Farrell; and her brother, Raymond “Buddy” Gray Sellers, Jr.

Born in Washington, D.C., Shirley spent most of her life in the D.C. and Maryland area before she and her husband, Wayne, retired and made their home in Nash County.  Shirley was a gifted and creative soul who could make something beautiful out of anything she touched.  She loved sewing, cross-stitching, and painting, and her handiwork reflected the care and joy she put into everything she did.  She and Wayne shared a love for home projects and remodeling—long before “house flipping” ever became popular, they were turning houses into homes together.  After retiring, Shirley embraced life in Nash County, where she reconnected with her extended family and became a faithful member of Red Oak Baptist Church.  She especially cherished her weekly Bible study and the fellowship it brought.  Shirley was also a devoted animal lover who adored her dogs, and above all, she was a loving wife to Wayne for 50 years and a devoted mother whose kindness and creativity will be deeply missed.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Kathy Farrell (Mike Stanton) of Wilmington; her sisters, Fay Ladner (Daryl) and Judy Mullings; and her three nieces and two nephews.
