Madeline Baker Winstead

Madeline Baker Winstead, age 89, entered into eternal rest on February 22, 2015 in Marianna, FL. She was born March 14, 1925, in Nash County, NC, to George Dallas Baker and Mary Lewis Baker. After her marriage, she lived in Savannah, Ga, Sanford, FL, Florence, SC, Jacksonville, FL, before returning to Rocky Mount, NC a in 1972. In 2004 she relocated to Sneads, FL to be near her daughter. Madeline was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wiley Leaston Winstead, her brother, Jethro Dallas Baker, step brother, Edward Joyner and step-sister, Gertrude Langley, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn Winstead Willingham and husband, Bill, of Marianna FL; two grandsons, William Leaston (Lee) Willingham and wife, Leigh, of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Britt Dallas Willingham, of Atlanta, GA; her step-brother, Horace Joyner, of Rocky Mount, NC; brother-in-law, Aaron Winstead, sisters-in-law Virginia Winstead and Annette Winstead of Rocky Mount and Nellie Rhea Winstead of Virginia, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank the caring nurses and CNAs of Jackson Hospital, Signature Healthcare, Covenant Hospice and especially Dr. Steven Spence, the kind ladies at Hill View Assisted Living, and special friend and helper, Jenny Foster. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28 at 3 pm at Sandy Cross United Methodist Church, Nashville, NC, with the Rev. Carol Dean and Chaplin Will Hoyle officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville, NC. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
