Lucille Kyger Garrett

Rocky Mount - Lucille Kyger Garrett, age 85, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015. Born on January 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Jane and Archie Kyger. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years and the love of her life, David Lee Garrett. In addition to her family, Lucille will be remembered by her many loving friends for her spunk, her fun-loving personality, and her many talents and interests. She was a master bridge player, a fabulous hostess, a talented artist, a decorator, and her work career spanned everything from Director of a local Virginia Employment Commission office to host of a local television show. There was nothing she could not accomplish. She is survived by two daughters, Davia Wells (Tim) of the Boones Mill and Rocky Mount, VA community, and Belinda Faulkner (John) of Rocky Mount, NC; four grandchildren, Greg Flora, Jamie Costa, Cara Ward, and Katie Gilmore; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Edna Mae Fendlay; one brother, Leo Kyger; and numerous nephews and a niece. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Memories at Rocky Mount Memorial Gardens. A visitation will immediately follow the service at the Chapel.   1. I was so sad to hear of Lucille’s death. What a treasure she was. I knew Lucille by association with Sterling House. I can see her now sitting at her table in the dining room with the sunshine coming through the window. I enjoyed reading about her life and what she accomplished, what a talented lady. I am blessed to know her at this time in her life. My sincere sympathy to the family. I will miss her sweet spirit and contagious smile.
