WHITAKERS - Louise Parker Flye, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on August 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Willie Walter Parker and Lottie Mae Smith Parker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Corbett "JC" Flye; and eleven of her siblings. Louise was a rural mail carrier for Route 1 in Whitakers for over 30 years until her retirement. A long-time member of Bethany Church of Christ, she was also a member of the Whitakers Lion's Club. As a long-time resident of Whitakers, Louise came to know and befriend many throughout the area. She could often be found tending to her garden or out casting a line as she had an enjoyment for fishing. Over all the things she enjoyed, none could compare to the time she spent with her grandchildren. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Louise will be forever missed. Louise is survived by her daughter, Patricia Flye Segee of Danville, PA; her son, Ron Flye and his wife, Kay of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Welthy Louise Stallings, Bethany Corbett Stallings, Harry N. Stallings, III. and his wife, Mary Carter and Kenneth Flye and his wife, Ashley; her great grandchildren, Annie Silva, Caroline Stallings, Grace Stallings and Bryson Alexander Stallings; her brother, Fess Parker of Whitakers; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service to celebrate Louise's life will be held on Saturday, February 6th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Whitakers Cemetery with Pastor Brandon Dees officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Brekenridge Retirement Center, Nash UNC Hospice, Carol Harrell, Tammy Harrell Peele, La Rue Johnston, Peggy Griffin, Phil Griffin, and Shelly Rhodes for their attentive care, compassion, and love that they devoted to Louise. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time.
