Louise Joyner Adkins

ENFIELD - Louise Joyner Adkins, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Born in Sussex, VA on June 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Elwood Joyner and Ruth Rivenbark Joyner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jim Adkins; her son, Jimmy Adkins; her brothers, Earl Joyner, Junior Joyner; and her sisters, Shelby Jean Parker, Thelma "Mickie" Brown, and Lois Ivey. Louise was a wife, mother, Granny and friend to all. She lived life to the fullest, always on the go, serving and helping all that she could. Louise never knew a stranger and always called everyone her friend. She loved her Lord, and enjoyed the old-time hymns. Even though we will miss her every day, our memories will live forever and we know we will see her again. Louise is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Adkins Brown (Jimmy) of Enfield; her grandchildren, Melinda Griffin (Pat), Anita Grimes (Todd Carter), and Shannon Horne; her great-grandchildren, Amanda Griffin Hurst (James), Corbin Griffin (fianc Nicole Longmire), and Erin Grimes; and her sister, Evelyn Hurst of Roanoke Rapids. A Funeral Service to celebrate Louise's life will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Alvin Davis and Rev. Rex Evans officiating. Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Nash UNC Health Care Systems Hospice & Palliative Care for their love and care of Louise. Also, a special thank you to her care-giver, Perlene Baggett.
