Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
I met Mrs. Abernathy many years ago working at NEED, Inc. She was a very nice lady and always had a smile. Praying for comfort to the family.

I had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Abernathy through my friendship with her daughter Jane, when we started college. Mrs. Abernathy was a second mother to me, and seemed to always politely put up with my shenanigans. She tried very hard to teach me how to play bridge, but I was never successful in keeping up! I will always remember her sense of humor and her dry wit. I will always cherish the laughs we shared and her love for me. To her family I send my sincere condolences. Much love, Annis Arthur
I remember Mrs. Abernathy from First Baptist. She was always so sweet and kind. My sincerest sympathy. Teresa Taylor Bullard
My condolences to the family. Take comfort from Gods word the Bible. This is a distress time for the family but in Psalms 461 it states God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress. Also it is so encouraging to read Isiah 258 which states He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. What a wonderful blessing for your and your entire family to enjoy.
I didn’t know Mrs. Abernathy, but since my name was Jane Abernathy I noticed the obituary. I was so surprised to see that was her daughter’s name too! My father’s family was from Laurenceville, VA & I grew up in Ayden. Anyway, I am sorry for your loss & am sure she was a lovely lady.
Jane and Wayne, I just heard of the Loss of your Mom. I send my prayers and thoughts to you and your family. Your Mom & Dad and mine had a lot of good times in the early years and we treasure the years we had with both your Mom & Dad through friendship and work, what an outstanding couple they were. Your Mom always looked so nice and was such a distinguished Lady. I never will forget the time when I was being trained by your Dad and he brought me to his house for one of his Tomatoe Sandwiches, it was delicious and a memory I will never forget. We miss your Dad at Adams Wholesale Company and we appreciate his and your Mom’s dedication to helping us to be what we are today. I lost my Dad in 2012 and My Mom will soon be 96. Our Parents were truly part of The Greatest Generation Warm Regards, Fred Adams
