Linda Parker Hayes

NASHVILLE - Linda Mae Parker Hayes, age 68, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 30, 2014. Born in Nash County on December 25, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Alex Luther Parker and Florence M. Williams Parker. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey Parker and Luther Parker; and sisters, Christine Parker and Irene P. Vester. Linda worked for Abbott Labs and retired after 25 years of service. During those years, she worked with her husband, Floyd at HR Block and continued working with him after her retirement. She was a member of Taylors Chapel Church at Sandy Cross and loved leading the music and singing. She later attended Tabernacle of Praise in Nashville. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren especially at Christmas. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Floyd C. Hayes; son, Keith D. Hayes of Rocky Mount; daughters, Debbie Batts (John) of Rocky Mount and Christy Bulluck (Brad) of Battleboro; grandchildren, Rebecca Smith (Phillip), Jessica Batts, Katie Bulluck and Caroline Bulluck; great-grandchild, Chad Dawson Smith. She will also be remembered by her brother, Kelly Parker (Barbara); and sisters, Rosetta P. Sills, Pattie P. Dozier (Jerry) and Lizzie P. Riley. The family will receive friends and relatives 7:00pm to 8:30pm Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home and other times at the home of Linda and Floyd Hayes. A service to remember Linda will be held at 2:00pm Thursday afternoon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ruben Batchelor and Rev. Woody Jones officiating.
